Prior to coming to National University, Ed worked at Youngstown (Ohio) State University, the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), and Harvard University. In 1995, he received his Ph. D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and taught there and at Dominican University outside Chicago. After moving to San Diego, he also worked as a systems analyst at Information Quest, a library services company. He is the author of RDA and Serials Cataloging (American Library Association, 2013; 2nd ed., 2024) and currently writes the bimonthly “Continuities” column in Technicalities, a library periodical. Ed is married with three grown children and lives in San Diego. He enjoys hiking and travel and is a longtime Padres fan.
