- Chapter 11 uses a sociological lens to discuss the social construct of race and ethnicity. It explores the concepts of stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, profiling and tolerance and the impact that these have on today’s society. Lastly, it shares some real life, modern day examples of racism and ethnocentrism.

During this period, close to one million people were killed, specifically the minority Tutsi population, in a genocide.
