In this dissertation selection, the conclusion of a study on how young students’ feelings toward an interpretation of poetry changed when they’d seen the poems performed, versus only having read them on the page. As you read the information, carefully consider the words of the students as they pertain to why the students felt more connected to the poems when they were read. Spend time exploring these resources, and read at least five poems from each. As you do, compare them in your head—which images stuck with you most, and how did their varying formats change your experience with them?
