Research done in this study suggests that the overall effectiveness of a nonprofit organization is directly influenced by the age, gender and racial/ethnic diversity of its board members. Furthermore, empirical evidence indicates that although the board may have diversity among its members, it is only truly impactful when its governance practices and policies encourage inclusive behavior.
