The book acts as a guide for philanthropic fundraising and expands the concept beyond the scope of mere financial support, but also understanding its foundational ideology all for the purpose of running a successful nonprofit organization.

Research done in this study suggests that the overall effectiveness of a nonprofit organization is directly influenced by the age, gender and racial/ethnic diversity of its board members. Furthermore, empirical evidence indicates that although the board may have diversity among its members, it is only truly impactful when its governance practices and policies encourage inclusive behavior.

Studer suggests that effective volunteer management is implemented when it caters to the uniqueness of volunteers much like human resource management does with paid workers. Several principles of Human Resource Management can be applied to Volunteer management when it focuses on volunteers as a “unique stakeholder group”, with the addition of resources to incentivize volunteers.
