Chapter 11: How Learners Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Receive Their Education, pp. 321- 353
Chapter 12: Students with Visual Impairments, pp. 354-383

These two chapters will provide you with a broad overview of services for students identified with hearing and visual disabilities. These are included here to help you understand the continuum of services and options on that continuum that are sometimes used for students whose needs are not met within the general education classroom or resource rooms discussed to this point.

For this lesson, please read the following chapters:
Chapter 12: Individuals with Hearing Impairments
Chapter 13: Individuals with Visual Impairments

These chapters provide an excellent overview of the classifications, causes, and assessments used for hearing and vision impairments. The embedded videos address many of the placement considerations for the hearing and visually impaired. These chapters will be useful for your assignment in this lesson as you dig deeper into one of these areas.
