Factor Analysis And Psychometric Evaluation of the Mathematical Modeling Attitude Scale For Teachers of MathematicsAsempapa, R. S., & Brooks, G. P. (2022). Factor analysis and psychometric evaluation of the mathematical modeling attitude scale for teachers of mathematics. Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education, 25(2), 131–161. https://doi.org/10.1007/s10857-020-09482-0.
In this journal article, the authors report on the development and use of a quantitative instrument aimed at assessing teachers of mathematics attitudes toward mathematical modeling practices. Based on the responses of 310 practicing teachers of mathematics from the US, the mathematical modeling attitude scale was evaluated using item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and other psychometric properties. The findings suggest a psychometrically usable, reliable, and valid scale for studying teachers’ attitudes toward mathematical modeling.
