This webinar explains what an elevator speech is, and how to discuss your research problem (component 1 covered in this webinar) within an elevator speach. Please pay particular attention from the beginning until the 20 minute mark. In your Lesson 3 assignment 3a, you will prepare an elevator speech specifically to focus on your research problem, and will consider research questions in assignment 3b. While you won’t have to address the other aspects covered in this webinar (Introduction, purpose, significance, etc.) in your week 3 assignment, this resource provides valuable information about the importance of and alignment of those sections with the research problem, which you will be addressing in later Lessons and assignments in this course.

This article discusses three types of “questioning” that should be considered for qualitative research and the unique function of each type. One of the most important issues to consider within this article is the distinction between developing research questions and developing interview questions.
