Kallschmidt, A.M., & Eaton, A.A. (2019). Are lower class origins stigmatized at work? A qualitative study of social class concealment and disclosure among white men employees who experienced upward mobility. Journal of Vocational Behavior, 113, 115-128.
Kallschmidt and Eaton interviewed White men who had, over time, moved from a lower-class designation to a higher one. Their work focuses on how and when these men conceal or disclose their lower-class origins. This piece demonstrates the stigma associated with class, as well as the intersectionality of race and class.
