In this study, a cross-cultural learning environment was designed using virtual reality (VR) and 360-degree video technology to provide an immersive experience for university students from China and Uzbekistan. Participants engaged in a cross-cultural learning activity, exchanging culture-related information. The findings indicate that participants improved their cross-cultural understanding, trait emotional intelligence (specifically in self-control and emotionality), and perceived presence in the VR environment. The study contributes to the literature by demonstrating the effectiveness of cross-cultural learning environments utilizing 360-degree video technology, highlighting improvements in cross-cultural knowledge and emotional intelligence, and showing positive acceptance of VR technology for such purposes.
