• Read pages 20-23, starting with the Roles of Practicum. This will be helpful in completing Week 1 Assignments 2 and 3.  
• Read pages 41-49, starting with The Organization section. Use the interactive guide on pages 47-49 to learn more about your practicum when you start at your site.  
• Read pages 82-94. This section focuses on well-being during the practicum experience. It will help you understand the demands and realities of practicum, and how to implement strategies for well-being, as well as resources to do so. Please note the chart on pages 91-94;   you can use those questions and prompts for discussion with your site supervisor and other agency staff in your first week at the practicum site.

• Read the National Association of Social Work (NASW) Standards and Indicators for Cultural Competence in Social Work Practice. These guidelines explain the social work profession’s definition of cultural competence and commitment to values. It will be helpful in completing Week 1 Assignment 4.
