  • Read “The Project Framework: Gates and Stages” (pp 125 – 141) as both a refresher of project phases and a re-imagining of them, particularly for the monitoring and controlling process group.

Project Management for Instructional Designers

Wiley, D. (2018). Project management for instructional designers (1st ed.). EdTech Books.

  • Chapter 8: Section 8.4 discusses managing the schedule progress, including how to track and report.
  • Chapter 9: Sections 9.2 - 9.3 discuss the managing of the budget, including formulas used to update on the status of costs and estimated value of the project at given times.
  • Chapter 10: Managing Project Quality covers the unique aspect of managing quality within instructional design project context. Review sections 10.3 and 10.4, which move into the “controlling” of quality.
  • Chapter 11: Managing Project Risk defines and discusses where risk lies within the various aspects of a project. Review again 11.3 Project Risk by Phases, particularly noticing the latter project phases.
