- Given the importance of strong presentation skills in management, improving these skills is a key focus in business education. With the rapid advancement of distance technologies, businesses have had to rethink many practices, including presentations. This study explores the benefits of video presentations from the perspective of students developing their presentation skills. The authors designed a course project where students work together to create a video presentation instead of a traditional in-class presentation. To evaluate the effectiveness of this new method, they compared data from several course sections using either the video creation approach or the traditional presentation approach. The findings showed a significant improvement in students' presentation skills—measured in five areas: central message, supporting material, language, organization, and delivery—when using the video creation method, as assessed by the Oral Communication VALUE Rubric from the Association of American Colleges and Universities. The authors detail the project and the study, concluding with insights and suggestions for applying this approach to other courses.
