The rendering style should be consistent with the audience, subject matter, and the emotions you want to elicit. Avoid amateur aesthetics and avoid making a bad first impression.
Read Chapter 5: “Render: Design Principles for Professional Slides.” This chapter is useful for accessing a hybrid of the traditional design elements and principles that are optimized for PowerPoint for professional presentations.
