This paper is an excellent read especially since it is not limited to IS, but rather overviews the Use of Data Science as: (1) Research Method, (2) Object of study, (3) RMO – Research Method and Object of study, (4) Research Methodology. In most studies that their underlying data sets are obtained by other sectors, sciences, or industries, Data Science serves as a Research Methodology, and it has specific components that we have already discussed.
