There is a pressing need for a new global leadership profile that requires new skills and capabilities. This article discusses the three fundamental skills of Cultural Competence, inclusive leadership and communication across boundaries that global leaders should have.

This article investigates positional power, social distance, and the conditions under which actors practice downward deference. The authors theorize about how people with positional power enact “downward deference”—a practice of lowering oneself to be equal to lower-power workers, and they looked at 115 top global leaders to test this theory.
