This chapter explores clinical applications for working with LGBTQIA+ individuals who have experienced sexual orientation change efforts in therapy. The trauma of these efforts and affirming clinical directions are discussed.

Authors present a historical reference to the DSM and the way that sexual orientation has evolved from a mental health diagnosis. This research provides a background to mental health and queer populations. Note that this research was done in Canada, so there are some slight differences in policy and approach from the U.S.
