- Read Chapter Three titled, “Understanding the Framework of a primary research article” (pp. 39-54). The purpose of this chapter is to provide you with a framework as an introduction to the rest of the book. We begin by describing what a typical research study looks like with a brief explanation of each component. The first three parts— title, abstract, and introduction— are discussed more fully in this chapter, whereas separate chapters are dedicated to the remaining components. We provide you with examples of current research from different journals and have interspersed some exercises to help you develop an overall schema of the basic structure of a research article.
