Hammond is a former teacher and instructional and curriculum designer turned professional development coordinator for organizations like the National Equity Project and the Annenberg-funded Bay Area School Reform Collaborative (BASRC) in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a trained facilitator in anti-bias processes and has facilitated groups working through racial politics and privilege issues. She has written books and researched cognition in correlation to cultural competence. In this video, she breaks down the neuroscience behind student learning and cultural competence.
