The following required reading is from a textbook that is a staple amongst researchers. However, the author uses literary-based or “classical” literature for many of the examples cited within the text. Despite the lack of an exclusive healthcare focus, its lessons are applicable for any thesis. Please read the following, but use the page numbers from the textbook, not the electronic version count. The pages outlined in Chapter 3 below provide a summary of direct and indirect research sources and the do’s and don'ts of using these. Chapter 5 provides good examples of sentence structure to help you write with clarity as you explain the literature.
Chapter 3: Conducting Research, pp. 45-54.
Chapter 5: Writing the Thesis, pp. 145-156.
