Customer-centric supply chains are discussed and the implications in the supply chain design. An interesting aspect of the chapter is understanding the considerations companies have for outsourcing decisions. An important part is identifying major causes of disruptions and security risks in a supply chain. Finally, a review of cloud computing and integration into supply chains.
This chapter is important for understanding the importance of location choices within a supply chain logistics network. Different systems and methods are covered for determining the location of a facility. Systematic location selection and using a matrix for evaluation, and finally, how a firm can manage its supply chains to ensure they are sustainable.
