Welcome to Navigate - Student Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

This is a resource for students to get common questions answered around the migration to the new learning platform, Navigate.

FAQs

These FAQs provide quick answers to help you during the transition to Navigate, National University’s unified Brightspace instance.

Who is affected?

In the short term, students enrolled in courses on NU Brightspace (also known as group-based courses) will begin using the new environment, Navigate. Eventually, all National University students will move to Navigate.

What if I'm taking courses through NCU?

If you are taking courses through NCU, also known as individual-based courses, you will continue using NCUOne for the time being.

Why is this happening?

National University is unifying Brightspace into a single instance (Navigate) to provide a consistent and improved learning experience.

When will this happen?

The transition begins in November 2025 and will conclude by Summer 2026.

What does this mean for me?

  • Students will continue accessing their courses through MyNu. Courses for the current term will be listed and accessible there.

  • Current courses will continue in NU Brightspace until completed.

  • New courses starting in November 2025 will launch in Navigate.

  • For a short time, you may take courses in both systems.

How do I log in?

Instructions will be provided by email, in course announcements, and in the Commons Navigate Resource Hub.

  • Students log in at login.nu.edu
  • Upon logging in, students are taken directly to MyNU (if there is an issue, students are re-directed to the main OKTA chiclet page)

If I'm on the OKTA chiclet page, what does the Navigate chiclet look like?

Below in a visual of the Navigate chiclet.  Simply click on the Okta chiclet to access courses in Navigate

Will classes I’m currently completing in NU Brightspace move to Navigate?

No. You will complete your current classes that started before November 23rd 2025 in NU Brightspace. Group-based classes that start on or after November 24 will be in Navigate.

Where are my old courses?

Courses that started before November 24th will continue to stay in the NU Brightspace instance. To review that list you can go to login.nu.edu and select the course in question.

Are there any major differences between NU Brightspace and Navigate?

The overall look and feel of courses will remain the same. The most notable change will be how Course Resources, such as library guides and electronic textbooks (eBooks), will be accessed in Navigate. Course-specific information will be centrally located within the Getting Started module, under Course Resources.

Where will I find LibGuides in Navigate?

LibGuides can be found by clicking on Content in the course NavBar at the top of the page. Then click on Getting Started and Course Resources.
