This study examined predictors of the adoption of cost-containment policies for a non-profit hospital and analysis indicated that adoption of such policies was positively related to the response to external regulation, cooperative inter-organizational involvement, external orientation, number of beds, occupancy rates and the influence of the chief administrators on the governing boards.
