Review Chapter 5: Assisting Individuals and Communities After Natural Disasters and Community Traumas

You will revisit this chapter numerous times throughout the duration of the course. This chapter will provide an understanding of the differences between community-based and individual-based traumas. The authors will offer an understanding of the various different types of disasters and cover protective and risk factors related to disasters. Finally, the chapter will offer empirically-informed strategies for interventions that can be used after community-based disasters that will create the foundation of several assignments.

You will have the opportunity to review this book throughout the course. Choose one of the chapters (1-19) to use for your assignment this week. This book provides a significant amount of information about various community-based disasters that have happened throughout the last several decades.
