Read: Chapter 1. Counseling Theory, Competency, Research, and You: Connecting the Dots.

Skim: Section II. Counseling and Psychotherapy Theories, briefly review the theories presented, most of which you covered in Therapy Skills and Theory A and B.

Chapter 1 covers key elements of competency that make psychotherapists effective. Section II gives you an opportunity to review the theories that were covered in PSY644A and B and prepares you to pick a theory to guide your case presentation in Module Two of this course.
