Leadership Theory and Practice
Northouse, P. G. (2021). Leadership: Theory and practice (9th ed.). SAGE Publications, Inc.

  • Path-goal theory is a contingency approach to leadership because its effectiveness depends on the fit between the leader’s behavior and the characteristics of followers and the task. Leader-member exchange (LMX) theory conceptualizes leadership as a process that is centered on the interactions between leaders and followers. Transformational leadership is a process that changes and transforms people. It is concerned with emotions, values, ethics, standards, and long-term goals. Work teams are prevalent in today’s organizations. These organizational groups are composed of members who are interdependent, share common goals, and must coordinate their activities to accomplish these goals.
    • Read Chapters 6, 7, 8, and 16.
