Read:

  • Section 8: Getting to Know Your Isolates and Section 11: “Classic” versus “Modern” to revisit different ways to classify and identify bacteria

This is one of the methods used in microbiology labs that combines multiple biochemical reactions. Enterotube is a system to distinguish different Enterobacteria.

Another system that uses combinations of biochemical tests is the API strip. There are many variations of this kit designed for specific bacterial groups; see: https://www.biomerieux-usa.com/clinical/api
