Read the following chapters in the Mather and Wendling text:

  • Chapter 5: Assessment of Cognitive and Linguistic Correlated of Dyslexia

    • This chapter provides information about the various correlated effects of dyslexia. This chapter includes information about the factors that are linked with dyslexia. Phonological awareness will be explored. Rapid Naming and Processing Speed, Orthographic Coding and Working Memory are also explored; these processing skills are linked with dyslexia. 

  • Chapter 6: Assessment of Decoding, Encoding, and Reading Fluency

    • The focus of this chapter includes information about how reading and spelling skills are developed.  This chapter provides information about decoding, encoding, and reading fluency.  You can expect to gain insight into the development of skills related to spelling. In addition, key elements of decoding and encoding are explored and defined as well as Orthographic Awareness or Morphology.  Lastly, processes to assess reading and spelling skills are explored, including the Dula-Route theory.
