In a study on children with disabilities, Christofferson (2019) examines the prevalence rates of violent victimization among a group that is vulnerable to victimization. In addition to discussing disability as a risk factor for victimization, they discuss other risk factors that interact with disability to increase victimization risk.

Mental illness, including psychosis, is considered a significant risk factor for victimization. de Vries et al. (2019) identify the prevalence rates of violent victimization among those with psychosis as well as examining other risk factors that place this group of individuals at increased risk for victimization.

Fox (2017) discusses a study of victimization experiences among gang members. The study addresses two significant risk factors for violent victimization: criminal involvement and gender. In discussing the gang-victimization link, the study also provides one example of the offender-victim overlap.

McEwan et al. (2017) review the risk factors that have been previously linked to stalking violence. They add to the literature by conducting a study that identifies factors that differentiate between stalking that leads to violent victimization and stalking that does not. They also touch on the importance of the victim-offender relationship.

This article discusses a proposed model of understanding victim credibility as it pertains to child sexual assault cases. As such, it represents one new direction in victimology theory as well as discussing an important concept, credibility, in work with victims.
