This peer-review journal article, which is authored by two NU professors, presents the findings of a study that combines both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

The Belmont Report: History, Principles, and Application
This article presents an overview of a report published in 1979 by National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research. It is a good introduction to this lengthy report on which current principles for the ethical conduct of research are based.

The Process of Conducting Ethical Research in Psychology
This overview of the ethical conduct of research in psychology includes a link to Stanley Milgram’s early research on obedience to authority, which violated many of the principles now followed.

APA Publication Manual: Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct. Section 8
Read Section 8. This section outlines the principles and guidelines for the ethical conduct of research.
