Meet the Academic Peer Navigators

Hannah Padilla

Hannah Padilla

COM103

I'm Hannah Padilla, a Peer Navigator for COM103 and halfway through earning my BS in Accounting. I have a background in mortgages and resume writing. I'm a mom of three—my oldest is graduating high school this year, and the younger two are in 10th and 3rd grades. I also care for my parents in their 80s.

My college journey has been non-linear, starting 10 years ago, then taking time off to support my kids with ADHD and dyslexia. I returned last year to finish my degree and set an example for my kids. My favorite subjects are English and finance. I’m here to be a resource and support for both new and returning students.

Stephanie Smith

Stephanie Smith

COM 103

Hi, I’m Stephanie Smith, an Academic Peer Navigator for COM103. In this role, I assist my peers with navigating the course and offer helpful referrals to National University departments as needed. My goal is to support my peers, build meaningful connections, and enhance my communication skills.

I live in Pennsylvania with my husband and our 7 children. I’m in my second year of my bachelor’s in pre-law studies. COM103 was my first course at National University, and I was terrified of public speaking, sure I’d fail. However, the course offers great support and information, helping me develop a skill that will benefit me in many areas of life. I’m excited to help ease the fear and stress of this course for my peers so they can gain valuable public speaking skills for their academic, career, and personal lives.

Camille Carter

ILR 260

I'm Camille Carter, a Peer Navigator and Aircraft Electrician in California. I'm also a proud parent to a teenage daughter and recently married. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, I’m passionate about supporting others through the challenges of online learning. With experience training new hires, I enjoy helping my peers succeed. I’m in my 11th course at National University, motivated by a desire to improve my family’s quality of life. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family, cooking, exercising, and engaging in outdoor activities. I'm excited to help others succeed academically.

Nicole Thomas

ILR 260

Hi, I’m Nicole Thomas, your Academic Peer Navigator. Having already completed this course myself, I’m here for the next 4 weeks to guide you through the material and resources at National University. I’m in the final stretch of earning my Bachelor's in Organizational Leadership with a pre-law option and am happy to assist however I can.

I’m a mom of three boys in Florida and have a legal career as a legal assistant and experience in training and development for global remote organizations. After a 15-year break, I’m back in school, knowing that a degree will open doors for advancement. No question is too small—if it’s too big, we’ll tackle it together!

Lindsay Williams-McCray

ENG 102

Hi, I'm Lindsay Williams-McCray, a Peer Navigator for (course). I provide support through one-on-one sessions and study halls, helping students with any questions throughout the course. I’m working toward my associate's in paralegal studies and have about a year left. I live in Northwest Pennsylvania with my husband and four kids and spend my days caring for my 8-month-old daughter.

I began my college journey later in life, determined to earn my degree and show my children the value of hard work. Writing has always been a passion of mine, and (course) has allowed me to explore my creativity. I’m excited to support fellow students and ease any concerns about remote learning at National University.
