This report allows you to see inside some of the victims and their family's heads. It allows you to see the different ways trauma victims and their family members grieve. Specifically, this event is a hate crime; there is a need to empathize with the victims. Your scenario for this week's readings involves seeing different perspectives (i.e., cultures and their reactions to traumatic events).

This chapter will introduce you to some basic concepts and terms of transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) individuals, as well as pointing out misconceptions. This knowledge will help to create effective suggestions relating specifically to the clients of the Orlando shooting. Later in the chapter, a specific intervention called eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) will be discussed as well as a vignette including the application of EMDR to the TGNC population.

Trauma can change the life of someone drastically. While some have minimum symptoms, others can experience drastic ones: this article reviews and critiques trauma-specific strategies that are culturally competent. The content here will help you to brainstorm possible interventions for your pamphlet that are evidence-based.

This article discusses simulation as an effective training tool for those in the healthcare field. This content gives another possible strategy when teaching caregivers how to deal with transgender and gender non-conforming individuals.
