Meet Your Academic Program Director!

Dr. Mistie Measeles

Dr. Mistie Measeles is the Academic Program Director and an Assistant Professor for the M.S. degree in Forensic Science. She holds a doctorate in management with an emphasis on criminal justice from Colorado State University. She has been teaching in the higher education fields of criminal justice and forensic science for just over 10 years. The pronunciation of her last name can be a bit tricky, so she likes to go by Dr./Prof M or Dr./Prof Mistie.

Prior to teaching in higher education, Dr. Measeles received her bachelor's degree in biology from Arizona State University. Driven by a strong passion for forensic science, she began working as a crime scene specialist with the Phoenix Crime Laboratory Crime Scene Response Unit. Her experience includes responding to and processing crime scenes, working on the homicide squad, and testifying in criminal cases. While working in the field, she obtained her master's degree in forensic science from National University, which began her journey in higher education. She has since then taught at three online universities as well as provided in-person instruction in crime scene investigation courses in Arizona. During one of her roles in higher education, she was the winning recipient of the Instructional Excellence Award, nominated by students, showcasing her dedication to teaching. Dr. Measeles truly enjoys being a part of a student’s educational journey supporting them not only in their experience in the online environment but in their personal lives as well.

Dr. Measeles is an avid pet lover who volunteers for a pet organization, loves to scuba dive with her husband, and thoroughly enjoys music, reading, and travel.
