- As we have learned, there are dozens of qualitative data analysis strategies. However, thematic analysis is most commonly used in dissertation research. Use this resource as a foundational source to understand the basics of thematic analysis so that you can compare it to other strategies.

- This is an example of another perspective on thematic analysis. Compare these authors’ descriptions to Braun and Clarke. One of your challenges in qualitative data analysis is to understand that there is no one single way to analyze data. There are foundational concepts that are applied to all thematic analyses, but the nuanced procedures might be a little different depending on the perspective you take.

- Guba is one of the seminal authors with regard to trustworthiness in qualitative research. Consider how they juxtapose trustworthiness with reliability and validity in quantitative research. While many qualitative research articles will use the terms reliability and validity in their presentation of findings, Guba presents a strong rationale for avoiding those terms when discussing qualitative research.
