Affordable Care Act Resources

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
The agency that administers Medicare and the federal part of Medicaid. Unfortunately, the site is incredibly hard to navigate, and there is no well defined area that deals with PPACA overall (specific sites appear below). The most efficient way to search the site is generally to do a site: search in Google; e.g.: "affordable care act" AND Medicaid site:cms.gov

Innovation Center at CMS
This Center was established under PPACA to “test innovative payment and service delivery models to reduce program expenditures, while preserving or enhancing the quality of care” for Medicare, Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) beneficiaries.

The Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO)
The agency within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) which "oversees the implementation of the provisions related to private health insurance."

Hospital Quality Initiatives -- Overview
The CMS page on the the Hospital Value-Based Purchasing Program, which will take effect in FY 2013 for hospital discharges that occur on or after October 1, 2012.

Cancer Clinical Trials from National Cancer Institute
A tool provided by the National Cancer Insitute to search for NCI-supported clinical trials.
CenterWatch
A source of clinical trials information for both clinical research professionals and patients.
ClinicalTrials.gov
A database of privately and publicly funded clinical studies conducted around the world provided by the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Clinical Trials at Massachusetts General Hospital
Search for clinical trials and research studies currently seeking participants at Massachusetts General Hospital and partner hospitals.

Health Canada's Clinical Trials Database
Provides a source of information about Canadian clinical trials involving human pharmaceutical and biological drugs.
International Clinical Trials Registry Platform
Provides access to a central database containing the trial registration data sets provided by select clinical trial registries, including Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry, The Netherlands National Trial Register, Clinical Trials Registry-India, and German Clinical Trials Register among others.
ISRCTN Registry
A primary clinical trial registry recognized by WHO and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) that accepts all clinical research studies (whether proposed, ongoing or completed).
National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Trials
An online database of clinical research studies taking place at the NIH Clinical Center, which is located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. Includes studies from rare diseases to chronic health conditions, as well as studies for healthy volunteers.
OpenTrials
An open, online database providing access to information on any clinical trial conducted.
