This resource will provide you with information about using the tool of reflection to support and develop action research as a way of approaching the study of human beings from a philosophical perspective, which emphasizes the importance of reflective practice. In particular, Part 1 from evidence-based practice to the researcher of the self (pp. 1-80) will be beneficial for this week’s assignment.

Yang, K. (2015). Participant reflexivity in community-based participatory research: Insights from reflexive interview, dialogical narrative analysis, and video ethnography. Journal of Community & Applied Social Psychology, 25(5), 447–458.
This is an interesting study on how the tables are turned on self-reflection and focus on the participant and not so much on the researcher. It is presented in this week’s readings to provide you with a different perspective of self-reflection and action research and how it can impact your research.

Smith, K. H. (2010). The inviting professional educator: A reflective practitioner and action researcher. Journal of Invitational Theory & Practice, 16, 5–9.
This article calls for all educators (teachers, administrators, counselors, supervisors) to implement systematic reflection and action research in their day-to-day professional activities. Additionally, it invites readers to go one step beyond to publish - thus making their findings public. The article also provides relevant resources and suggestions for further reading are given at the end of the article.
