The Bennett, Ruggero, Sever, and Yanouri (2020) article presents a good meta-analysis on how virtual care modalities can assist with bridging the gaps in care throughout our nation. The author’s focus on expanding psychological healthcare and well-being is already available and is now prepared for wider expansion.

Stewart, Orengo-Aguayo, Yong, Wallace, Cohen, Mannarino, and deArellano (2020) review the possibility of addressing a significantly underserved subpopulation in the mental health field through the use of telemedicine. The use of telemedicine to meet the diverse needs of various populations is a growing interest as reflected in articles such as this. The use of telemedicine to address disparities in care and deliver specialized treatment to individuals who may not have access is a growing area of practice reflected in the literature in tele mental health.

Dobmeyer and colleagues (2016) discuss training and building a mental health workforce capable of working in newly developed integrated care systems. This article provides key considerations when considering how to train behavioral health providers to work effectively within new models of care. As this information is considered, the applications for mental health should be considered by integrating the information from this week’s articles, previous week’s articles, and the text chapters should start to assist the learning with formulating management challenges and opportunities in the modern mental health setting.
