Consider the following information as you get started with your scholarly journey toward presentations and publications.

IGI Global constantly seeks submissions for journal articles and proposals for new academic journals. Check out this helpful webinar produced by IGI Global with advice on pursuing scholarly publications.

OLC has an established journal with ongoing calls for submissions for journal articles relating to online education. The new OLC Press also seeks submissions for books and book chapters relating to online education.

Consider attending and presenting at the EdMedia Conference. According to the site, “EdMedia + Innovate Learning hosts a “conference within a conference” specifically for Ph.D. candidates, Masters students, and new faculty.”

OLC is a well-established organization with many conferences throughout the year, both online and in-person.

Traditional Publishing Versus Open Access Publishing

In addition to full open access and traditional publications, you may see that many publications now offer a hybrid open access option, which may allow authors to choose whether their work is open access or traditional within that publication. 

Some publications charge author's fees, especially for open access publications. Be cautious as publications who charge fees can sometimes be legitimate and can sometimes be predatory. More information on predatory publications and conferences is provided below.
