  • Chapter 1 – Introduction to Operations Management 

This chapter is important to understand the basics and scope of operations management. Customer utility, inefficiencies, and system inhibitors or blocks are discussed with examples and learning activities. Also included is a view of working in the field of operations management. 

  • Chapter 2 – Introduction to Processes 

This chapter is important because it covers how to identify gaps in processes. Strategies are discussed to determine process flow and metrics for evaluation. All managers ultimately need to decide if a process is efficient and how to make improvements. 

  • Chapter 3 – Process Analysis 

This chapter is important because it discusses process flow diagrams to determine if obstacles are present in a process. How to compute flow rate of a process including cycle time and utilization. How to analyze multistep processes and identify bottlenecks.
