Learning Theories

How People Learn

The National Research Council has conducted and synthesized research in developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and educational psychology over the past two decades. In a culmination of books published by the National Academy of Sciences, researchers share theories and insights about how people learn, which is essential for considering effective technology adoption and implementation that can support or enhance learning. The books below are recommended as helpful references to better understand how learning theories apply in formal and informal settings. They also have specific chapters about the integration of learning technologies, which are directly connected with our course content.
