This guide describes the many e-book resources available through the NU Library and how to use them.

Downloading Instructions by Database

Credo Reference

It is not possible to view or download the entire book at once, but you may view or download each chapter/entry separately. After finding your chapter or entry, click the Print/Export button in the upper right and select Download PDF for Printing.

Ebook Central

ProQuest Ebook Central offers flexible options for downloading content.

Download a chapter, a page, or a range of pages in real PDF. Text is searchable and selectable, and a citation is included in a style of your choice (see the Chapter Downloads tab).

Download the book to computers, tablets, and phones. Simply select your device in the first step, and Ebook Central will guide you through the rest, as shown in the screenshots below.

If you’re using a laptop or desktop, you need Adobe Digital Editions a free program that is different than Adobe Reader. A free Adobe ID is also required to transfer the ebook to another device, but not if you’re just reading it on the same computer.

On iOS and Android devices, you need Bluefire Reader, which is free from the App Store and Google Play. You need an Adobe ID to use Bluefire Reader.

Step 1: Select your device.

Step 2: Install your reader software.

Step 3: Download the E-Book.

The download options offers a borrowing period for up to 21 days (depending on the publisher). You can download the same book again and again, once you return it or once it expires.

Once you’ve downloaded an Ebook Central e-book, that downloaded e-book is only on the computer or device you downloaded it to. However, you can manually transfer it to a different device. For instructions on how to manually transfer your downloaded e-book to another device please refer to the following instructions from ProQuest ebooks Support Center:

EBSCOhost

It is not possible to view or download the entire book at once, but you may view or download each chapter/entry separately. First open up the PDF Full Text for your EBSCOhost e-book. Next, click the Download icon in the upper right of the Adobe Reader toolbar, as shown below. This will open up the dialog box on your computer so you can save the document.

IGI Global

It is not possible to view or download the entire book at once, but you may view or download each chapter/entry separately. First select the PDF chapter for your IGI Global e-book. Next, click the Download icon in the upper right of the Adobe Reader toolbar, as shown below. This will open up the dialog box on your computer so you can save the document.

Psychiatry Online

Subscription titles are not available for download as PDF documents though PsychiatryOnline.

Therefore, in order to save the text, you'll need to use your browser's option to save a web page. For instructions, see the following guides:

SAGE

It is not possible to view or download the entire book at once, but you may view or download each chapter/entry separately. First click on the Download PDF button for your SAGE e-book. Next, click the Download icon in the upper right of the Adobe Reader toolbar, as shown below. This will open up the dialog box on your computer so you can save the document.
