Legislative History Research in Nexis Uni

Searching by Public Law Citation

Enter the Public Law citation into the search field at the top and click on Search. This will provide a list of all materials pertaining to the public law. Click on the link to review the full-text of the law. Scroll to the bottom to review the Legislative History notes. Other available materials will provide additional information to the history of the legislation.

Legislative History Materials can be browsed within Nexis Uni. Click on Menu and select All Sources. Select Statutes and Legislation from the Category box within the left panel. Select Legislative Histories. This selection will produce a list of various legislative histories compiled by Lexis researchers.

Congressional Research Reports (CRS)

Nexis Uni provides access to Congressional Research Service Reports. Click on the 'i' icon to learn more about this resource. Click on the title to add this source as a filter to search within or to browse a list of available documents (Get Documents).

Alternatively, a keyword search can be conducted to review legislative history concerning a particular topic. Click on All Nexis Uni and select the Statutes and Legislation Content Collection Filter. Enter the search terms into the search box at the top of the page. At the results page, select Legislative Histories from the Category box within the left panel.
