Race, Ethnicity, and Adolescent Violent VictimizationTillyer, M., & Tillyer, R. (2016). Race, ethnicity, and adolescent violent victimization. Journal of Youth & Adolescence, 45(7), 1497–1511.
Tillyer and Tillyer (2016) demonstrate that, in general, the risk for violent victimization increases when adolescents of any race or ethnicity participate in delinquency; however, they also find that some risk factors vary by race/ethnicity. Students will learn that understanding risk factors is an important aspect of making sense of the differential victimization rates based on sociodemographic factors, such as race/ethnicity and age.
