Attention Mac Users

Attention: Compatibility Issues with SPSS 28 & 29 on Mac OS Sonoma

We would like to bring to your attention an important software compatibility issue that may affect those of you using SPSS on the latest Mac OS.

  • SPSS Versions Affected: Both SPSS 28 and 29.
  • Issue: These versions of SPSS are incompatible with the newest version of Mac OS (Sonoma).
  • Resolution Timeline: The next version of SPSS is expected to address and correct this compatibility issue. However, it is scheduled for release in December 2023.

Immediate Solution: If you have already updated to Mac OS Sonoma and are experiencing issues with SPSS, the only solution we're currently aware of is:

  1. Roll back your Mac OS from Sonoma to the previous version.
  2. Reinstall your SPSS software.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this unexpected challenge.

We recommend that if you rely on SPSS for your coursework or research and have not yet updated to Sonoma, please hold off on updating until SPSS 30 is released and confirmed to be compatible.

Should you have any questions or require technical assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our IT support team.

MacPaw has posted these instructions for rolling back or downgrading from Sonoma.
