Information on the psychometric principles of reliability and validity on instruments is explained. The importance of assessments and the use of the DSM-5 TR for assessments is also illustrated.

- For this week, focus on the Introduction section (pages 5-29), although you will still need to use the book for diagnosis throughout the course. The DSM-5 TR (not V) may include the following for disorders listed; diagnostic features, associated features, prevalence, development and course, risk and prognostic factors, culture-related diagnostic issues, functional consequences, differential diagnosis, and comorbidity. There are also charts for diagnostic criteria in addition to the matching ICD-10 codes and several assessments on symptomology, symptom severity, and a disability assessment. Students should be familiar with the DSM-5 TR when interpreting assessments as per diagnostic features.
