In Chapter 2, the authors examine psychological testing and assessment regarding cultural and legal/ethical matters. However, cultural and legal/ethical information and issues are present throughout the textbook.

- The APA addresses assessment in Section 9: Assessment , but also in Section 1: Resolving Ethical Issues, Section 3: Human Relations, Section 4: Privacy and Confidentiality. Students should become familiar with the guidelines.

- The APA examines multicultural guidelines in various areas of diversity and multicultural practice. Multicultural competency is addressed by an ecological approach, the multiple facets of identity, through intersectionality, and being culturally responsive. Students should become familiar with the guidelines.

- The ACA code of ethics contains information specific information on evaluation, assessment, and interpretation in section E. Students should become familiar with the guidelines.

- An example of Aboriginal children, studied by Dr. Judy Kearins, was studied on the belief that intelligence tests did not consider the cultural differences when the tests were scored and interpreted. It was found that verbal scores were the most difficult, but that the Aboriginal children overall performed better than white Australian children, typically three years ahead, and they performed the tasks at increased rates. Different strategies and different parts of the brain used during intelligence tests show cultural differences that require attention.

- The purpose of this article is to examine how modern intelligence assessments can be made more equitable and fair by addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion concerns, redefining intelligence through non-g, emergent models such as the process overlap theory, and providing evidence-based recommendations for researchers and practitioners to reduce bias and promote fairness in testing practices.
