The following chapter from the textbook provides essential context for understanding where psychological testing came from, what psychological tests are, how they are structured, and the process of using them. There is also information on how to evaluate a test for consistency, for claims that it measures what it is supposed to measure, and for practicality. For this week, Chapters 9: Intelligence and Its Measurement, Chapter 12: Personality Assessment Methods, Chapter 13: Clinical and Counseling Assessment, and Chapter 14: Neuropsychological Assessment have background information to intelligence and personality assessments. Chapter 13 specifically reviews DSM-5 TR diagnoses as part of the reporting process in assessment.

- The authors focus on the WMS-IV throughout the book. Specifically, in chapter 4 (p.68 - 112), there are examples of the WMS-IV with instructions on how to interpret these scores. Students should pay attention to page 105 for primary index scores.
