DOI Information

When using Academic Writer to generate a reference, remove the proxy information from the reference and correct the link as shown. 

Incorrect DOI

Removing the Proxy String from a DOI

Option 1

Some academic tools, such as Academic Writer or RefWorks, may include the NU proxy string in a DOI number. Follow the steps below to learn how to remove the proxy details from references.

  1. Highlight the dash “-” between “doi” and “org.”

  1. Next, on the keyboard, replace the dash between “doi” and “org” by selecting the period key.

  1. Then, highlight “.proxy1.ncu.edu” in the reference.

  1. Select the delete or backspace key to remove the proxy string from the reference.

  2. Select the delete or backspace key again to remove the extra space between “org” and the forward-slash “/”.

The proxy string is now removed from the reference so that it reflects APA 7’s DOI guidelines:

https://doi.org/10.1016/j.compedu.2015.03.010     


Option 2

 

  1. Place the cursor after the dash between “doi” and “org.”DOI number with downward red arrow
  2. Select the backspace key on the keyboard to remove the dash.DOI number with downward red arrow and cursor

  4. Place the cursor behind the “u” in “.edu.”DOI number with downward red arrow
  5. Use the backspace key to delete “.proxy1.ncu.edu” so that there is no space between the “g” and the forward slash.

The proxy string is now removed from the reference so that it reflects APA 7’s DOI guideline:
