LibGuides > Content > Assets
We can manage Books, Links and Widgets by reusing them rather than add new ones. The Assets area shows which items have been added and where they are mapped. They can be edited and the edits will filter to all mapped locations:
When you have a number of assets that you plan to re-use in multiple guides, it’s better to create a box with those assets and either map that box to all the other guides in which you plan to use it. That way, if you need to modify/edit the assets, you can do that from one place (the mapped box) rather than having to modify in multiple places. This is a better practice than copying guides or copying boxes – TRY TO AVOID COPYING GUIDES OR BOXES.
LibGuides > Content > Image Manager
There are two parts to the Image Manager
Your Personal Library - anything you upload is stored here.
Shared Library - images can be uploaded by Admins and used by all.
What can I upload?
Supported formats include JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and ICO.
How do I access the Image Manager?
Best Practice - via a Content Item / Asset
Add an image to a Rich Content item: (via the image icon), or use the Gallery box type (so you can easily add images to your gallery box).
In LibGuides - via the Content Menu
Or, go to Content > Image Manager
At the top level > LibApps
From the LibApps Dashboard, click the Image Manager link in the orange command bar.
Upload shared images to your Resource Center folder. This is for organizational purposes only.
Caution: Be very mindful of uniquely naming each image to avoid accidentally overwriting your, or someone else's image. Behind the scenes, all images are stored in the same location regardless of folder placement.
Root folder:

Library LibGuide Home folder: (note that the folder name is not part of the path)
https://libapps.s3.amazonaws.com/customers/4266/images/Library_Banner_Main.png
General guidelines
Add Alt Text at the time you upload the image - the ald text will then be present anywhere throughout the system the image is used.
Delete images that are not mapped and used in a guide.
Delete duplicates mapped in guides and replace with central image for easier global updates.
