LibWizard

The Tutorials & Assessment link allows you to create content-rich interactive in-frame tutorials and assessments modules. Follow the below instructions to create a tutorial or assessment in LibWizard. Also see the following Springshare tutorial for instructions on how to build tutorials:

  1. Login to LibApps and navigate to LibWizard.
  2. Click on Tutorials & Asessments
  3. Click the + Create New button in the upper left.
  4. You have the option to create one from a Blank Slate or to use an existing tutorial as a template. To use an existing NU Library tutorial as template, select the tutorial from the "Start with" drop-down menu.

  5. Under Tutorial Type, select Standalone Tutorial / Assessment.
  6. Name or rename the tutorial (if you have used an existing tutorial as a template, it will populate that field as Citing Articles and Similar Resources - Group Session (copy), for example. Make sure you change this.
  7. Enter a simple Friendly URL.
  8. Enter a brief Description. See some examples below:
    • A tutorial and assessment to accompany the Citing Articles and Similar Resources group session.
    • This tutorial supports the Week 3 Assignment: Conduct Effective and Efficient Library Searches in EDU-8000 Foundations for Doctoral Study in Education.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Click anywhere in the green area to add or edit the Welcome Screen.

  11. Repeat the above for the Thank You Screen by clicking in the blue area.
  12. Click the + Add Slide button to begin adding slides to your tutorial.
  13. The Slide Workpad will have three tabs on the left-hand menu. See basic descriptions of these tabs below.
    • Slide - This tab allows you to edit the content will be displayed on the right column of the tutorial page alongside the questions / instructions fields on the left column. To add a live library web page, select Website/URL and enter the full URL into the box. Note that all URLs will need to have https. You may need to change this for some of our sites.
    • Fields - This is how you add questions to the left column of your tutorial. Drag/drop the question type into the workpad on the right in order to add a new question. You can also use existing questions by clicking on the Reuse Questions button in the bottom left. You can also drag/drop to change the order of the questions.
    • Bank - This tab contains questions that the Library has added to the bank. Note that only admins can add questions to the Question Bank, but any user can reuse them.
  14. Once you have added question forms to the slide, click on the Edit button in order to write your content. Remember that the content you add to the Slide tab will display on the right-hand side while the questions will appear on the left.

  15. Continue working on adding your slide content. We recommend using the Preview button frequently to see how your content appears.
  16. To exit the individual slide and return to the overall tutorial, click the Back to Tutorial button in the upper left.
  17. If the Save Changes button in the upper right is bright blue, you have changes to save. If it is light blue, it will not allow you to click on it and you have no changes to save.
  18. Click Preview again to review the entire tutorial. We recommend sending the preview link to other library staff members to test, as well.
  19. Click the Share/URL button to get the direct link to the tutorial/assessment or to display the embed code.

The Quizzes link allows you to create quizzes and tests. Features include condition logic, timing options, self-grading, and more. See the following Springshare tutorial for instructions on how to build quizzes:

The Surveys link allows you to create, send, and analyze surveys. Features include conditional logic, complex data capture, and more. The NU Library sometimes uses the survey feature to solicit feedback on database trials. Note, however, that Qualtrics also used for library surveys and is often preferred since it has more sophisticated logic. Ongoing Qualtrics surveys include the Research Consultation Surveys (student and faculty), Library Workshop Feedback Survey, and Library Dissertation Toolbox Feedback Survey.

The Forms link allows you to create forms for embedding in any webpage. You can see an example of an NU Library form on our About Us page. At the bottom of the page, you will see the "Suggest an Item for Purchase" form. See the following Springshare tutorials for instructions on how to build forms:
