Faculty-Student Interaction Playbook

Created by faculty for faculty!

Class-Based Model

Students and faculty interacting virtually. The class model typically includes more than five students, and the students engage with one another along with the faculty member. Classes start every fourth Monday (or Tuesday if Monday falls on an observed holiday), and students are accustomed to ongoing due dates throughout the four weeks, which are relatively similar from course to course. Given the demands of teaching an entire course in four weeks, part-time faculty are typically assigned to teach just one course per session, for up to 10 sessions each year. (Some programs do include eight-week courses.) The entire university works together as one team to enable students to focus and succeed in mastering each subject in just four weeks without sacrificing quality.
